Chair Make Over

I found this treasure at Savers for $15. Then I founds some pillows as well from Savers for about $7 which I covered with fabric for about $10. This was my first sanding project. I took off the paint by sanding, but next time I think I will use some paint removers. I think it’s safer cause you don’t have questionable paint particles floating around or getting on your skin. I decided to use an Espresso color for the stain and sealed it with polyurethane. I thought the color was a bit dark at first and was thinking of wiping it down with mineral spirits, but the color grew on me and I sealed it.

Chair without sanding and with pillows bought all from Savers.

Chair with new cushion covers added. I made the back pillow cushion as an envelope case for easy washing and or to change up the color.

Chair in the sanding process. This took endless hours during my daughter's nap time. But we got her done. Plus I had to purchase some sanding dremel heads for the intricate things like the feet and spindles.

Blissful and Domestic

Read this blog Blissful and Domestic by Danielle. She some how lives off of $14,000 a year with her husband who is attending school and she has two children 6 and 8. She tries to make everything home made from house cleaners, clothing, and food to save money. Truly and inspiration. I am planning on taking a few tips from her. She started out by reading a book called Americas Cheapest Family Gets You Right on the Money. I have started to book and look forward to saving a bit of money and learning some more DIY tricks 🙂 Stay tuned.
